A Class40 ocean racing yacht. It is a lightweight monohull sailboat—12.19 meters long and 4.50 meters wide—designed specifically for solo and double-handed ocean regattas. The hull features a wide bow with rounded lines and a raised stem, enabling efficient passage through heavy seas; high freeboard and a dual-level deck structure enhance longitudinal hull rigidity while allowing for optimal mass distribution within the regulated displacement limits. The sail plan comprises a tall mast, boom, bowsprit, mainsail, and a suite of headsails, with sail controls centralized in a protected cockpit equipped with four winches. The rudders are designed to kick up, automatically pivoting backward upon impact with a floating object. Water ballast tanks are provided for trim adjustment; one of the structural tanks is divided into two 250-liter compartments, allowing ballast to be shifted according to the course and sailing conditions. The interior is designed for maximum functionality rather than cruising comfort: there is no separate full cabin or enclosed head; instead, the layout includes a sleeping area, navigation equipment, a galley with provisions, and technical zones. The protected cockpit serves as the skipper's primary workspace during an ocean crossing. Power for onboard instruments, the autopilot, satellite communications, and navigation and emergency equipment is supplied by deck-mounted solar panels and a stern-mounted hydro-generator that converts the energy of the passing water flow into electricity. This design combines minimal weight, a high sail-area-to-displacement ratio, a responsive hull, and equipment suited for multi-day, autonomous ocean racing.
