F1 ‘60s

A single-seater Formula 1 racing car from the 1960s. The car is based on a lightweight aluminum monocoque, constructed from thin aluminum sheets riveted and bonded to steel bulkheads. A naturally-aspirated 3.0-liter V8 engine is mounted longitudinally behind the driver. The engine not only serves as the power unit but also forms part of the chassis's supporting structure: it is directly connected to the monocoque and supports the loads from the rear suspension and gearbox. Engine output is 420 hp, and maximum revs reach 10,000 rpm. Torque is transmitted to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, providing rear-wheel drive. The independent suspension uses external coil springs and shock absorbers: wishbones and control arms are used at the front, while upper control arms, inverted lower triangles, and longitudinal control arms are used at the rear. To slow the car, disc brakes with four-piston aluminum calipers are used. The fuel system includes four rubber fuel tanks with a total capacity of approximately 40 gallons, housed within the chassis. An aerodynamic fiberglass body and a low driver's seat reduce drag and improve stability at high speed. The car weighs 560 kg, and its top speed is 300 km/h.
